The latter part of the town's proper name, which is spelled Krynica-Zdroj, means "The Spring", an extension added to official health resort towns in Poland. At present Krynica is a town of just over 11 000 residents. Its heart is the historical, Spa-like centre with The Main Pump Room and the gorgeous wooden villas and pensions, some of them being genuine architectural gems of the early 20th century.

But it is not only physical recovery that people have been craving for here. Ever since its inception Krynica has been a synonym of the great outdoors in the shade of Mt. Jaworzyna. Today, right behind the historical, lady-like centre stand the thriving, well organized, and guest-oriented facilities, providing top-class seasonal sport services at the mountain slopes, the full scope of beauty treatments, and the first-class entertainment.
