Scottish cuisine might not exactly spring to mind when you're in Cracow, but this restaurant, in a traditional 16th Century Cracovian cellar in the centre of the historic old town, is a bit of a find. Suspend your disbelief as you are greeted by kilted waiters serving up all the traditional Scottish favourites, as well as Polish and European dishes. Great service, a splendid and sophisticated menu with a great choice of meals (including, of course, haggis), U Szkota also has on offer a wide range of drinks and draught beer.

We found this place by accident, after a long day travelling from Nova Scotia to London to Krakow. Who knew that U Szkota was Scottish? We were hungry, and the pictures by the door enticed us. Descending into the medieval cellars, we were taken aback to see all the waiters in kilts. They are a bit of a kitsch thing back home in Nova Scotia and not what we expected on our first day in Poland. I don't remember anything Scottish about the menu but we had wonderful Polish food, and the atmosphere was really charming. It was one of the highlights of our visit.

Went here as the idea of sitting in a "Scottish" restaurant in Poland appealed to my sense of humour. Wish I hadn't bothered! Food was ok but as I was travelling alone I was pushed into an empty backroom to sit and eat which I found quite offensive. Definately wouldn't bother with this place as there are lots of nicer, friendlier, better value for money places to eat in this wonderful city.

One of the best restaurants we visited during our stay. Lovely atmosphere and good service from waiters dressed in kilts. Wonderful food at a reasonable price. Very enjoyable.
