Editor's review

Shanti is the newest addition to Krakow's up-and-coming Podgorze, offering innovative Asian cuisine within a chic, contemporary space. During the day Shanti serves an international lunch menu, while in the evening the menu features the restaurant's specialty - fresh, modern interpretations of classic Asian food from noodle soups to dumplings. Shanti is the first restaurant of its kind in Krakow, and with its unique food, designer looks, and exceptional service, it's surely set to make a splash.

I am afraid that Shanti has closed it's doors on Ul Dekerta 24.We are actively looking for another location closer to the centre and hope to re-launch Shanti in the near future.I would like to take this opportunity to thank everybody who supported us during the last year or so and hope that you will look us up when we find our next venue!! Hope to see you all very soon,Thanks again!

OK, so here's the real story. I have just eaten lunch here. First, it took 15 minutes by taxi from just near the Market Square. Waitress was pleasant and helpful. First shock was the lunch menu specials - great value at 15 zloty, but what a choice - Polish sausage and mashed potato, or tomato soup. Hardly Asian food at all! OK, so I decided to go for the main menu, and ordered up a Thai classic - green curry. The portion was tiny, a lump of rice the size of a small cup, and the curry itself had about 3 pieces of chicken in it, and was basically a green soup. And - the worst thing of all - it cost 37 zloty! Total rip-off! It tasted OK, but nothing special. This sort of quality of meal should cost no more than 15 - 20 zloty.

I really wanted to like this place, but I cannot recommend it. Service - 8/10, location 4/10, food taste - 6/10, food value - 1/10. Overall - 3/10

Avoid.

I went down there for a lunch. It was very good value at 15 PLN for a 2 course meal, which included broccoli soup and a dish of a sort of thai-style pasta. We then walked round the corner to the Schindler Museum, which is about 5 minutes away. I think I would go back to Shanti again, and try their main menu.

I just ate the best thai food since the summmer of 2003 when I spent two weeks in Thailands second city,Chang Mai near the northwest Burmese border. Imagine my surpise after a tour of the new display in the Schindler factory in krakows Podgorze district(me and two buddys are travelling across Europe) I stumble across a thai restaurant in an office building. We walked in expecting the worst given the location but were soon seated in a comfortable non-smoking section, the interior is funky and modern and the food is beyond belief. Where they have sourced such ingriedients in POland I have noi idea but the food is as authentic as any I ate in my time in Thailand. I had Beef Sate Skewers for starter followed by lamb Massaman Curry and my friend John had the Shanti special which I also tasted and was phemonomal. Ya'll are lucky to have a place like this in town and trust me if I ever come to Krakow again ill be back!!!! P.S. You guys should open up a place in Chicago

This was my third time to Krakow and after visiting all the major tourist attractions on my previous visits we decided to go to the Schindlers factory tour in podgorze which was really informative and well worth the trip and also we visited a new modern art museum before that. just a few minutes walk from schinlers factory we were recomended to visit shanti restaurant.I have to say the food was excellent and the place and service matched the food!! really topped off a great day in this lovely city!

Booked a table in advance for a Saturday night but need not have bothered as the place was very quiet. Only 1 server and 1 member of bar staff appeared to be working and the place lacked energy and personality. Whilst the environment and presentation of food was good it was not enough to wow us. The out of town location is no problem but the environment and experience, which looks on the face of it to be really nice and modern, does not live up to expectation and leads to disappointment. Would not recommend the chicken Pad Thai as it came out luke warm and tasteless, maybe I was just unlucky. The Shanti Spicy Special, if you like it hot, is very good and tasty but no rice was offered with the dish and it needed it. The Thai fishcakes were a little dry also. Service was okay when it actually came, the server was at pains not to have any eye contact with the diners so it was impossible to get a second drink until he physically came to the table or you went to the bar to order. Very strange and they were far from busy. Shanti was recommended and we were really looking forward to going but it failed to impress on any level. Maybe if the staff had been more welcoming or attentive the experience would not have felt to bad. Just to be acknowledged would be nice. Maybe the key staff and owners were on holiday? The final disappointment was as we left, no one acknowledged us to say goodnight, staff seemed to hide from the customers. Never mind.

This place what a big suprise for me. It looks very modern and funky. Plus the food is great and not expensive. Got recommended to eat Laksa Curry (had no clue what to take, as I'm not very familiar with thai food) and that was so delicious. Tried food from my friend's plates and I must say everything was just fantastic.

I promised myself to be back there every time I get a chance to be in Kraków. Highly recommended

The best Thai food (outside of Thailand) we ever ate! Well, the location is maybe not the most convenient one but it's absolutly worth going (maybe by cap and not public transport). The prices are more than reasonable.

We highly recommend the place!! Finally a good Thai restaurant in Kraków!

This place was recommended to me by a friend and it doesn't disappoint. I had fantastic vegeterian pad-thai and beautiful vegeterian spring rolls. I loved the way the food was presented, great Thai style with attention to details. Nice decor, we were sitting in the low table area at the back. Staff was great. Just a shame it is not closer to the centre as you have to make a special trip by taxi. But thanks to that we saw other parts of Krakow.

Went to shanti last night after hearing so many good things about it..ok its good but the best thai food ever is a bit much!I tried the shanti special curry and it was very good but I have had better in the States. The place is really nice but a bit far out from the centre.Still I agree that its probably the best Krakow has to offer.

The best Thai food I've ever eaten!!! This restaurant is unbelievable!!! It ticks all the boxes - The food is delish!!! the staff are attentive, friendly and helpful! They really knew their stuff when it came to the food and the wine. The Decor is super cool and funky as is the music and the atmosphere - and if all that wasn't enough the value is unbelievable!!!!!!!!! Although its not on the main square, I would recommend anyone to take the short taxi drive out to it. If I ever come back to Krakow, I will definitley be coming back and would highly recommend it to anyone going over to Krakow!

I have been to Shanti four times and I have to say they are doing a great job. I have live in Poland for the longest period of time and tried al the Thai Restaurants in Warszawa ad I have to say they are on the money. The duck red curry is to die for and I would say it is better than any I have tasted in Warszawa. Well done Shanti team keep up the good work.

If your looking for a real treat - then please go to Shanti!!! I've dined all over the world and I know only too well how hard it is to get every element right but I have no hesitation marking Shanti 5/5 on everything. The food was to die for, the service impeccable - attentive but not in your face, the atmosphere was electric, the music was cool and the decor unbelieveable... and last but not least delicious cocktails!!!! Had such an amazing nite, really felt welcome and no request was too big. Fab, Fab... FAB can't wait for my next opportunity to go back!!!

AS group of us went to Shanti on Saturday night - loved it! Great funky restaurant - extremely friendly staff and the food was delish! Defo a diamond in Krakow! Also very cheap for the amount of booze that was had. I would definitely recommend this to anybody going to Krakow - only 5 min drive from Market Square

Would highly reccommend Shanti Restaurant, well worth the taxi ride out, 7 of us ate there last Saturday for a hen party and could not fault the place, food was amazing, decor was ultra cool and service was fantastic, cool music and great tasting cocktails, what more could you ask for, excellent value for money worked out about 40 eur each, for sparkling wine, 4 courses buckets of wine and cocktails, would honestly of cost triple that if you were to eat in similar places at home in ireland, this is my 3rd time to Krakow and will definitely be reccommending this place to friends
