Krakow ranks 4th in Condé Nast Traveler's ranking

Krakow ranked fourth on the list of ten most tourist-friendly cities by readers of Condé Nast Traveler, American tourism magazine.

It’s the first time when Krakow occurred on the list, storming it straight to the fourth position.

‘A surprise, a hidden treasure,’ this is how Krakow was described by tourists. Though the plebiscite has been organized annually for over 25 years,. Krakow was outdistanced by three English-speaking cities: Queenstown in New Zealand, Dublin in Ireland and Sydney in Australia. It has left behind its potential competitors from the region, including Budapest, which placed eighth.

Condé Nast Traveler’s readers placed more than 100 000 of votes. Krakow owes its high position not only to openness and hospitality of locals but also a healthy distance to itself and good sense of humour. Famous nostalgic trips around Nowa Huta in communist-time cars organized by locals seem the be the best proof of the latter.

It’s not the first accolade of the kind this year. In July, the New York-based Travel & Leisure magazine announced that Krakow is seventh world’s most beautiful city. A few months ago, on the other hand, Krakow was acknowledged as eleventh most interesting place on the globe.
