Would ewe believe it?

It might be a thriving centre of urban culture in one of the fastest changing parts of Europe - but Krakow is now home to a flock of sheep. A formal ceremony featuring performers in Polish highland costume marked the animals' arrival at Blonia commons, in the heart of the city. The sheep will stay on site for around two months, and their pens will be moved periodically to allow them to graze on different parts of the common. Politician Jacek Soska, of the Polish People's Party (Polskie Stronnictwo Ludowe - PSL), persuaded the city to let the site for 3,200 zl, until the end of October. Until then, it will be home to up 150 sheep at a time. The presence of sheep in the city harks back to times when the sight of livestock grazing on the Blonia was an everyday occurrence. However, not everyone has welcomed the new arrivals; debates in Krakow's Polish language newspapers present arguments ranging from a thumbs up to 'duh - the common is for people!"
