Szymon Szewczyk Exhibition

 

Szewczyk is a graduate of the Faculty of Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice, author of objects, installations, sound compositions, paintings, collages & video-art.

His works were presented, amongst others, in CSW Chronicle, BWA in Katowice and the CCA.

 

The artist combines the experience of stage design, painting and sculpture; tracking cultural filth and disturbing synchronicity. Following the fate of counterfeit traveller, melancholic anthropologists, scientists charlatans - who collect and shuffle styles, artifacts, receipts, quotes. His projects are based on the carnival aesthetics of bonding elements borrowed from very different visual registers. Objects designed by Szewczyk are the expression of a fantasy of travelling, created by someone who does not like to travel, imagination of the exotic, the desire of the Other.
