Anniversary Exhibition of Japanese Art

Masterpieces of Japanese Art in Polish collections is an exhibition hosted by Manggha Centre of Japanese Art and Technology dedicated to celebrate its 20th anniversary. It includes Japanese art created between years 1603-1912 (The Edo and The Meiji periods), the Ukiyo-e woodcuts, also known as “pictures of the floating world”, as well as paintings and sculptures, fabrics, bronzes, lacquerware and militaria. The exhibition features masterpieces which had a huge impact on the artists of the West, for example The Great Wave, a woodcut by Hokusai, a great icon of Japanese art. By presenting also unknown pieces of art which came to light after years of being overshadowed, the exhibition at Manggha brings out the diversity and richness of Japanese art created by Polish artists.
