The Orange Revolution Celebration Banned

From November 2004 to January 2005 Ukraine was undergoing severe changes. Gatherings of people and series of protests took place after the presidential election of 2004.

Thousands of protesters demonstrated against the victory of Viktor Yanukovych. Due to the protests, Ukraine's Supreme Court ordered a re-vote, which Victor Yushchenko officialy won. On January 2005 he was sworn in as the new president.

This year, the The Kiev District Administrative Court refused to agree for the celebration of the Revolution on its fourth anniversary. The event, which was supposed to be held on Maidan Independence Square, was banned due to the holiday character of the celebrations.
