For a glimpse of the mercantile splendour of Old Gdansk head for the Uphagen Mansion, one of the few accessible houses on ulica Dluga, the city's most magnificent thoroughfare. This sumptuous residence was once owned by one of the pre-eminent mercantile dynasties of Gdansk, and the interior offers a dizzying taste of past opulence. Recently restored with an accent on the eighteenth century, Dom Uphagena is a must for history buffs and lovers of the arts. Regular exhibitions and Sunday concerts are a further bonus.
