Bjorn van der Doelen & Mathijs Leeuwis

Every Wednesday evening there’s live music in the nostalgic upstairs room of café ‘t Rozenknopje. Usually it’s American roots music, this Wednesday it’s gonna be all Dutch, so if you wanna improve your Dutch while enjoying some real good live music by Bjorn van der Doelen and Mathijs Leeuwis, this is your chance. During his football career (he played for PSV for many years), Bjorn van der Doelen was already writing and singing songs. When he finished his career as a professional football player, he decided to focus more on his music. His first single, “Bende mal”, was released in 2006 and was written in response to a remark his mother made on her birthday. In june 2007 he released his CD-single, “Nijmegen”. In 2010 he released his first album, together with his band Allez Soldaat, titled “D’n duvel die slaapt nooit” ( The devil never sleeps). In 2011 his song “heul gevecht” was voted as most beautiful song in Brabant dialect. In 2015 he released his album “Caballero Zonder Filter”. Tonight he will be joined on stage by Mathijs Leeuwis on pedalsteel.
